Dr. Castillo is passionate about LGBTQ medicine, and strives to be an outspoken, visible leader within his community. He has special interest in gender-affirming hormone therapy, as well as prevention of sexually transmitted infections (STIs). His practice includes specific time every week reserved for providing care to transgender patients. This is an opportunity for transgender patients to seek hormone replacement therapy (HRT) and preventive medicine in a caring and accepting environment.
Dr. Castillo is the Director of Community Outreach and Diversity at our residency program and therefore it is important that the physicians he trains are mindful of social determinants of health, including socioeconomic status, education level, and health literacy. Being mindful of these variables ensures that all of our patients receive the quality health care that they deserve.
In his free time, Dr. Castillo loves singing and making music, cooking, trying new restaurants, trivia and crossword puzzles, and following his favorite bay area sports teams. He is also fluent in English and Tagalog and speaks intermediate Spanish.
