Robert Tran, M.D., is a board-certified pediatrician with additional certifications in pediatric gastroenterology at MemorialCare Miller Children’s & Women's Hospital Long Beach, Torrance Medical Center, Children’s Hospital of Orange County, Fountain Valley Regional Medical Center and St. Mary Medical Center. Dr. Tran also serves as the residency education liaison for pediatric gastroenterology and the co-medical director of the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Program at Miller Children's & Women's.
With his special training in gastroenterology, Dr. Tran’s medical expertise includes inflammatory bowel disease, liver disease, GERD, nutrition and obesity. He strives to be at the forefront of endoscopic techniques, and is certified in advanced endoscopic procedures and techniques by the North American Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition.
Dr. Tran received his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine, and completed his postgraduate residency training in pediatrics at the University of California-Davis Medical Center, where he was awarded the Residency Leadership Award. Dr. Tran then furthered his training by completing a fellowship in pediatric gastroenterology and nutrition at the UCLA Mattel Children’s Hospital. Prior to coming to Miller Children’s & Women's he was an assistant professor at Loma Linda University School of Medicine.
Dr. Tran is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Gastroenterology Association and the North American Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition, as well as the Crohn’s Colitis Foundation of America. He has also volunteered his time and medical services to programs such as Project Vietnam, in which he provided medical care and education to rural villages in Vietnam.
